Patti LuPone Joins And Just Like That: Broadway Royalty Takes on Manhattan Drama

Broadway icon Patti LuPone is trading center stage for city sidewalks, joining the third season of And Just Like That. Michael Patrick King, the showrunner behind both the original Sex and the City and its reboot, confirmed the news with hints: LuPone’s character will enjoy a full arc this season, meaning multiple episodes of pure diva magic.

The details of her role remain a Manhattan mystery, but with a cast as eclectic as this—Rosie O’Donnell, Cheri Oteri, Mehcad Brooks, and Logan Marshall-Green and more, LuPone’s addition promises to keep us on our toes. Plus, Sebastiano Pigazzi and Dolly Wells are stepping up as series regulars, bringing more screen time for Anthony’s dreamy Italian man Giuseppe and Miranda’s BBC producer crush, Joy.

LuPone’s arrival feels like a love letter to New York City itself. A Broadway legend, she’s been lighting up the stage in The Roommate alongside Mia Farrow, while also bewitching Marvel fans as Lilia Calderu in Agatha All Along. This isn’t just casting; Its a New York City fever dream.

Season three isn’t without its changes. Sara Ramirez’s character Che Diaz won’t be returning, with their storyline wrapping after a breakup with Miranda. Karen Pittman’s character Nya Wallis is also absent this season due to scheduling conflicts with The Morning Show and Forever.

So, what can we expect from Lupone And Just Like That debut? Will she be a glamorous rival, a fabulously over-the-top broadway star, or something entirely unexpected? Whatever the case, one thing’s certain: If anyone can get into Carrie Bradshaw’s head, its going to be Patti Lupone in any capacity.
